Took Tenny to a Jazz game

The game was as entertaining as a Twilight movie, but we had a great time with the Bailey cousins. And Tenny came away with the line of the night: "That reminds me - the day after tomorrow I'm going to make a beaver catapult so we can launch beavers!" Crazy but it just might work.

I love the view from my office!

Especially when it snows.

Merry Christmas 2012!

Merry Christmas friends and family!  We hope you had a wonderful holiday.  We sure did.  This was our first Christmas back in Utah, and we LOVED spending so much time with our families.  It's going to be hard to go back to normal life after this.  Some of the highlights of Christmas 2012 included:

Attending the annual Christmas Eve party

Real live sleigh rides in Liberty, Utah

Caroling through the snow with a frozen Stewart Clan

Feeding the elk herd in one of the prettiest places in the world

Opening presents

Playing with presents

Teaching Grandma Julie how to use her new iPad -- mostly to play Angry Birds

Helping Tenny build a birdhouse out of the old scrap lumber he found in the attic

And reading stories with Grandma while staying roasty-toasty in our new Christmas jammies.

And after many years of asking, daddy finally got the present he's always wanted:  a nap!  It's a Christmas miracle.

Merry Christmas, everybody!

Scenes from the enormous and super fun Stewart Clan Christmas party

Now the panoramic shots did some funky things with some faces, but I have to say it made me happy to see Thomas with less-than-perfect teeth for once.

I love this girl I married 10 years ago today.

We celebrated with lunch at the Lion House, where Brigham Young housed and fed his 55 wives. Of course, we're waiting anxiously for our real celebration...just two more weeks.

Tenny is six!

The best six years of his life correspond with the best six years of our lives.  We love you Tenny, and we're so glad you're part of our family.

Also, you're probably never going to remember this, but we had such a fun afternoon on the town this afternoon -- half a movie, lots of frozen yogurt, and an enormous amount of silly and laughing.  You're like the brother I never had, and my best buddy.

A fun night at the local arena

If you were watching on TV and heard someone screaming during the National Anthem, it might have been Suzy.  She really likes that song.

A personal visit from the jolly fellow

Our kids were so shocked that they stood with their mouths gaping open like codfish and never did tell Santa what they wanted.  Perfect!

A really strange spider

Tennyson called me at work to tell me about his new pet spider he had captured in a pickle jar, and this is how he described it:

"It's kinda shaped like spiderish and it has eight legs. And it's yellow with black spots and has a black thing for a mouth. And it kinda looks strange. It's actually a really strange spider. And it's kinda queer."

And this is the picture he took and texted to me.

Chillin' at the Cutler Cabin

Sometimes the best medicine for a stressful week is a weekend trip to the cabin.  But we don't have a cabin.  So a huge thanks to the Cutlers who filled that prescription and invited us to join them in their delightful cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon this weekend!

After the smiles,

the sledding,

and soaking our cares away,

we're feeling much, much better.
